First Aid Training – Be the Help Until Help Arrives

Rossendale Community First Responders and Community Defibrillators for Rossendale have joined forces to bring you free, lifesaving “No Fear” CPR/AED sessions. These aren’t just ordinary training sessions delivered by ordinary trainers — they’re delivered by real responders trained by the North West Ambulance Service who have attended actual 999 emergencies and put these skills into practice in the most critical moments.

In just two hours, you’ll gain the knowledge and confidence to act decisively in a cardiac arrest emergency. You’ll learn how to:

  • Recognise the signs of cardiac arrest and respond in those vital first minutes
  • Keep yourself safe while preparing to help the patient
  • Stay aware of hazards and protect yourself from danger
  • Take control of the situation and “command” an effective response
  • Check for breathing and know what to do if you’re unsure
  • Work through the DR C ABC process step-by-step
  • Communicate effectively with 999 operators while performing CPR

We’ll also cover real-world scenarios such as what to do if the patient isn’t on a hard surface, how to respond if they regain consciousness, what to expect when the ambulance crew arrives, what equipment you might see them use, and where to turn for emotional support after such an intense event.

This is practical, experience-driven training — designed to give you the confidence to help save a life without fear or hesitation.

In partnership with Community Defibrillators for Rossendale, our training includes a thorough introduction to using an AED (defibrillator). You’ll learn what an AED does, what it sounds like during operation, and how to use it safely and effectively. We’ll talk you through how you how to access AEDs from the yellow community boxes and guide you through the simple yet vital “6P’s” process. You’ll also discover how an AED decides whether to deliver a shock and we’ll bust common myths surrounding AED use. Combined with high-quality CPR and early defibrillation, this knowledge can dramatically improve a patient’s chances of survival. Give us just two hours to sharpen your CPR and AED skills — skills that could one day save the life of someone you love.

Help Us Bring Lifesaving Skills to the Valley

We’re on a mission to train more people in the valley with vital, lifesaving skills — but we can’t do it alone. To make this possible, we need your help in providing a space where our community can come together and learn.

If you have access to a venue that you could generously donate for a few hours on an evening or over a weekend, you could help us host public training sessions for 20–30 attendees. These sessions are designed to give local people the knowledge and confidence to act in an emergency, potentially saving lives in the future.

By offering your venue, you’ll be playing a direct role in empowering our community with skills that truly matter. You can rest assured that your space will be home to meaningful, practical learning that could make the difference between life and death.

If you’re able to support us, please get in touch and complete our short contact form. We’ll reach out to discuss the details and share exactly what we’re looking for. Your assistance would mean the world to us — and to the people whose lives might one day be saved because of it.
