Rossendale Community First Responders, working alongside Community Defibs for Rossendale, are proud to continue supporting schools across the Rossendale Valley with engaging, practical CPR and AED awareness sessions for pupils.
Our team is made up entirely of local volunteers who respond to real 999 emergency calls in our community. This means pupils don’t just learn the theory — they gain insight and skills from people who use them in real-life, life-or-death situations right here in Rossendale.
For many years, we have worked closely with local primary and secondary schools, particularly with Year 6 and Year 7 pupils, helping them understand:
- How to recognise a cardiac emergency
- The importance of acting quickly and confidently
- How to perform CPR
- How to safely use a defibrillator (AED)
These are vital life skills. Teaching them early empowers young people with the confidence to potentially save the life of a friend, parent, grandparent, or member of the public.
In addition to our regular school sessions, we successfully deliver a practical “Restart a Heart” programme each October, aligned with the Resuscitation Council’s national Restart a Heart Day. We also offer flexible, ad hoc CPR and AED sessions throughout the year, tailored to meet the needs of individual schools.
We are delighted to continue offering these sessions to schools across the valley, helping to equip the next generation with the knowledge and confidence to respond in an emergency.
If you are a teacher or headteacher and would like to arrange a session, we would be very happy to discuss your school’s requirements and tailor a visit to suit your pupils.
Thank you for your continued support in building a safer, more resilient future for our community in Rossendale.
