Saturday 28th June was Armed Forces Day and the Rossendale Community First Responder & Community Defibs for Rossendale were invited to the Veterans in the Community (VIC) Centre at their Haslingden HQ. Dawn, Brian & David took up the invite to spread the word about the work we do. The weather was warm but windy as the event kicked off.

We had a steady stream of young and old wanting to practice their CPR skills and take the opportunity to use a defibrillator. Our virtual Ambulance tour proved ever popular with the children, as always. As did wearing our helmet and hi-viz for photo opportunities.

A big shout out to Sophia who showed us all how to do CPR and Defibrillation! in fact, she was that good at it she even instructed her Nan how to carry out the procedures. And we have to say a special thank you to Sophia for her very special donation to our Charity. Thank you so much Sophia!

Not to be left out, MP for Rossendale & Darwen Andy MacNae also tried his hand at life saving skills, and we know that should the worst happen in the commons chamber, other MP’s are in safe hands when Andy is about!!

We were also very honoured to have the Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire, Mrs Amanda Parker JP stop round at our stand were were able to discuss the role of Community First Responder for the North West Ambulance Service, and also promote the hard work of the members of Community Defibs for Rossendale Volunteers throughout the valley. The Lord-Lieutenant and a number of Army Cadets posed for a picture with Dawn at our stand.

A good few hours was had by all, and it was an honour to support all service men and women in our armed forces.
