On Friday 27th February, David and Derek travelled to Burnley to visit the home of the Burnley, Pendle & Rossendale Sea Cadets, where they handed over a set of used CPR manikins that still have plenty of life left in them.
The distribution of the equipment followed the delivery of new training manikins to NWAS (North West Ambulance Service) for frontline training, meaning the older equipment was deemed surplus to requirements. The team at Rossendale Community First Responders immediately took action to identify local groups that could benefit from the equipment, rather than seeing it disposed of.
After meeting the Sea Cadets at the “60’s in the Park” event last September, Rossendale Community First Responders were able to secure several sets of manikins, with the latest set of four now destined for the Burnley, Pendle & Rossendale Sea Cadets.
During the visit, David and Derek were given a tour of the Sea Cadets’ facilities and had the opportunity to watch the senior cadets hold colours.
In the picture below, you can see the full Burnley, Pendle & Rossendale Sea Cadets unit with their new manikins, alongside David and Derek.
We hope these manikins provide many years of service and support the Sea Cadets in developing CPR proficiency and lifesaving skills.
