A mild June evening saw us spending the evening with the Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team (https://www.rpmrt.co.uk/) at their HQ in Burnley. Fortunately on this occasion, and for this event not a flying ant in sight!!!

A number of the Rossendale CFR team went to the RPMRT HQ to get a little bit more understanding about their role, and the sort of jobs the RPMRT attend.
They outlined their capabilities, which often includes moving patients in difficult and challenging environments – including stairways as well as hilltops.
They briefed the team on how they would support NWAS when called upon to do so – and they often are!
Next we were shown around some of the kit they use including Kelvin trying out their vacuum mattress for size which forms a splint around the whole body for extractions.

We also took a look around their Incident Support Unit, that would be used to coordinate major incidents.

We also got to have a look around their 4×4 response vehicle & their mini 4×4 vehicle.

As always a bit Thank You!! to the RPMRT for their hospitality and getting all their toys out for us. We genuinely value our annual training sessions.
