Community First Responders at the Vitality Event 2025

The Valley Leadership Academy's Vitality Event featured public engagement, CPR and AED training, health checks, and a new CPAD installation, fostering community interest and involvement.

One of the hottest days of the year so far in 2025, and we were at the Valley Leadership Academy for their Vitality Event.

Dawn, David & Brian or should we say Mr Pickup or even ‘Sir’ (for those not in the know – Brian retired from the then Fearns as Deputy Head). We were at the event to have some public engagement and provide some CPR and AED training and to be honest at one point we even had a queue forming which was great to see the involvement from adults and children alike.

Todays event had blood pressure checks, our interactive ambulance tour, CPAD familiarisation, CFR kit display, medical emergencies video presentation, kids ‘dress like a CFR’ photo opportunity and of course Annie for CPR training and our training AED.

We were very pleased to have on display the latest CPAD box which is ready to be installed in its new location in the coming weeks marking the 88th CPAD for Community Defibs for Rossendale.

Now while we were nice and undercover – it was still a hot day and plenty of liquids were the order of the day to keep everyone hydrated.

It was great once again to explain to the general public what we do as Community First Responders and what our role is. We had quite a lot of interest in having our CPR & AED training sessions for a number of groups so we’ll be exploring those in due course, and a number of questions and enquires about becoming a CFR!

We were also met one young man, who had previously been practicing CPR at one of our events – he’s subsequently been awarded a silver Blue Peter badge for his efforts learning CPR. It was great to chat with him and listen to how proud he was!!

Really great day building on last years Vitality event, so a big thanks to the Valley Leadership Academy for the invite for today.

We are all off to have an ice cream and a cool down!!
