2026 – 60’s in the park

Saturday 12th September saw the return of 60s in the Park at Whitaker Park – although unfortunately, the weather certainly wasn’t playing ball!

Despite a forecast suggesting things would improve by mid-morning, the rain arrived and simply didn’t stop until well into the afternoon. Nevertheless, the Rossendale Community First Responders team were there, ready to meet the community, answer questions and give people the chance to find out more about what we do.

Unsurprisingly, the weather kept attendance lower than might otherwise have been expected, but those who braved the rain were treated to plenty of 60s music and a variety of community stands and activities.

We brought along Anne and Little Junior, together with a selection of our equipment, including a community public access defibrillator (CPAD) and AED, giving visitors the opportunity to get a closer look at some of the equipment used within our community.

We had some great interactions throughout the day, particularly with children and young people who were keen to have a go at CPR. Trying on some of our uniform also proved popular, with plenty taking the opportunity to pose for a photograph in front of our ambulance backdrop!

Despite the weather, it was a great event and an enjoyable day for David, Dawn and Brian – (Note from editor – although drying everything out afterwards took considerably longer than we would have liked!)

A big thank you must also go to the CFRs who joined us first thing in the morning and helped us erect “the big top”. Given the weather that followed, we were very glad to have it!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, have a go at CPR or simply find out a little more about Rossendale Community First Responders & Community Defibs for Rossendale.
