Team Rossendale take CPR Centre Stage

On Thursday 16th October, teams across the country joined together for the Resuscitation Council UK’s “Restart a Heart Day”, an annual event dedicated to raising awareness of cardiac arrest and promoting CPR training.

This year, North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) teamed up with the BBC North West to deliver sessions across the UK, with the aim of getting as many people as possible trained in life-saving CPR. In Lancashire, events were held in Lancaster, Fleetwood, and Blackburn, with hundreds of participants taking part throughout the day.

After nearly 12 hours of 30-minute sessions, it was Team Rossendale’s turn to take over and close out the BBC Lancashire event at the BBC Radio Lancashire Studios in Blackburn. Leading the final sessions were David and Kath, who delivered engaging and practical training to enthusiastic participants.

Although the final sessions of the day were a little quieter, attendees were eager to learn, asked fantastic questions, and showed a real commitment to gaining a valuable life skill that could one day help save a life.

A huge well done to everyone across Lancashire, the North West, and beyond who took part in Restart a Heart Day 2025 — and congratulations to all who can now say they’ve learned CPR in just 30 minutes!
